Roger Waters diz que seu novo disco trata de religião e já tem músicas prontas

If I Had Been God deve chegar às lojas em 2013

Roger Waters, finalizou a mega turne The Wall Live, eleita sua obra-prima de maior sucesso segundo a crítica mundial, e que ele considera a obra mais gratificante de sua carreira.

Waters declarou a Rolling Stone que após as 200 apresentaçoes de The Wall está trabalhando em um novo projeto solo, com material que vêm acumulando ao longo dos últimos 20 anos, e que já conta com pelo menos uma faixa pronta que será o carro-chefe do álbum: “If I Had Been God”. Roger vai falar de religião e diz que já tem maturidade para abordar o tema.

Roger dá a entender que vai falar sobre grupos extremistas religiosos e não está nem aí para a crítica.  Não seria a primeira vez que a religião apareceria em seu repertório, já que com "Pink Floyd", em "Dark Side of the Moon" e "Animals" já houve fortes alusões à religião – para os fãs será um prato cheio, mas para aqueles que já conhecem desde o "Pink Floyd", surge uma grande interrogação: Sob seu ponto de vista como pretende abordar religião, qual será a base ideológica que "Waters" entenderá viável? Ou é só uma estratégia de marketing? Resta-nos aguardar para ver.

The new issue of the US edition of Rolling Stone - issue 1158 - includes an interesting, one page Q&A with Roger Waters.

Naturally, the initial thrust of the short interview is the current tour of The Wall, which is heading towards its conclusion in July with the huge concert in Quebec. Roger gives an insight into his movements after the "Tear down the wall", talking about how he preps for the return to stage for Outside The Wall.

The most interesting comments come when asked what happens after this tour. "On the last leg, I started writing a new song that may be the key to at least one more album. It's called 'If I Had Been God'. I think I'm prepared to stick my head above this parapet - at my age, I care more about the truth and less about being shot at. I'm concerned now with extremist religious groups of all denominations." In previous interviews over the years, Roger has often mentioned songs or themes supposedly forming the bases of new albums, all of which seem to have come to nought.
